Spokane’s No-Li Brewhouse Expanding in Every Direction

I was in Spokane a month ago and had a chance to chat-up John Bryant, Co-Owner of No-Li Brewhouse. That’s when I learned of the brewery’s plans to expand in every possible direction. Listening to John rattle off the recent changes along with the brewery’s continuing plans for growth was dizzying. When he was done, even I had to catch my breath.

It all started with the re-branding—changing the name from Northern Lights Brewing to No-Li Brewhouse—which happened over a year ago. But that was just the beginning.

The brewery is poised to install a new and bigger brewing system. A new 30-barrel brewhouse, two 60-barrel fermenting tanks and a 60-barrel brite beer tank will be in service very soon. They’ve also taken over some vacant warehouse space across the parking lot. The expansion and resulting increase to production will allow No-Li Brewing to explore new markets in distant lands like Maryland, North Carolina and Colorado. As reported recently on Brewbound.com, the brewery hopes to grow by 150-percent.

Along with the new brewing equipment, No-Li has also installed some new personnel. Damon Scott, Lead Brewer, comes to No-Li by way of Durango Brewing. Dylan McDonald, the new Sales Manager, is a transplant from Oskar Blues. Brittany Dern, also from Oskar Blues, serves as the new Marketing Manager.

Out front, pub patrons will hardly notice the changes. But the pub is not immune. The new chef, Branden Moreau, is a Spokane native who has work for some of the city’s more beloved eateries. He intends to continuing upgrading the pub’s culinary offerings.

As if all that isn’t enough, in November No-Li Brewhouse intends to begin distributing its Imperial IPA and Imperial Stout in 4-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

Look out world. This Spokane Brewery is looking to take you over. And that’s no lie.

Here’s a press release about some of the recent and upcoming changes at No-Li Brewhouse.

No Boundaries in Sight: New Imperial Series 4-Pack from No-Li Brewhouse

No-Li’s Innovation and Growth Lead to New Package and Expansion

Spokane, WA… The award-winning No-Li Brewhouse that brings you Spokane-Style beers continues to push innovation through mind-bending growth, brewery expansion projects, and a new screen-printed,12-oz long-neck bottle, 4-pack.

Despite a saturated craft beer market, No-Li Brewhouse continues to thrive on innovation in beer styles and bottle packages that serve a year-round customer experience. Continuous research and development and fast-paced growth drives a need for more production and packaging equipment, and increased capacity – the brewery is awaiting two 60-barrel fermenting tanks, one 60-barrel Brite beer tank, and a new 30-barrel brewhouse.

Master Brewer and Co-Owner, Mark Irvin comments: “Our current growth puts us on pace to produce nearly 6,000 barrels this year, up from 2400 barrels in 2012. With the addition of the new fermenters, a brite beer tank, and a new brewhouse, No-Li will have about 10,000 barrels per year capacity.”

In addition to new production equipment, No-Li will add a new bottling line to support the 4-pack series. The Imperial Series includes year-round Jet Star Imperial IPA, a 115 IBU, 8.1% ABV double IPA, as well as Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout, ringing in at 100 IBUs, 9.5% ABV. The 4-pack Imperials launch November 18th.

Irvin states: “The new packaging configuration allows No-Li to meet customer demand for a smaller package size with exceptional value. The screen-printed 12oz bottle is unique within the industry.”

In addition to the brewing and packaging expansions, No-Li also recently sourced new team members. Lead brewer, Damon Scott from Durango Brewing Company, head chef, Branden Moreau, born & raised in Spokane, Sales Manager, Dylan McDonald, Marketing Manager, Brittany Dern, both previously from Oskar Blues Brewery, and a handful of brewers, production and sales staff from the Spokane area, are integral to forging a craft beer-path to the Inland Northwest, an important and up-and-coming market.

No-Li invites you to join them at the brewery in Spokane for a tour and tasting; samples of the new package available upon request.

In addition to the state of Washington, No-Li is distributed in select states, including Idaho, Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Portland, OR. No-Li currently carries 22oz bottles and draft brands, and will add a 12-oz long-neck bottle 4-pack in November 2013.

Taking the craft beer world by storm in it’s freshman year, No-Li brought home nine international awards for it’s various beers, including a gold medal from the 2012 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.
