ABV 7%, IBU 70 SRM 5

It’s no secret that at Stoup, we love Galaxy hops. So in the making of this beer, we boosted Galaxy’s huge tropical fruit aroma and flavor with a little Citra (another one of our favorites). In the end, the beer packs a massive hop nose and finishes with a clean, firm bitterness.

About Beer Trumps Hate

Beer Trumps Hate was started in 2017 by Rooftop Brewing Company in response to negative rhetoric in the national political environment. In the belief that beer and community go hand in hand, they have created a program in which local breweries choose a month and a beneficiary organization they would like to support with proceeds in an effort to promote awareness and raise funds. #DrinkBeerDoGood #BeerTrumpsHate

About ReWA

Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA) is a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides holistic services to help refugee and immigrant women and families thrive by working with multi-cultural communities to promote integration and self-sufficiency. All services are designed to quickly and effectively stabilize clients, promote acculturation, increase language proficiency, and improve employability. At Stoup, we definitely wanted to benefit a community that is surely feeling the backlash of new political policies. In helping refugee women, we are helping their children and partners too, hopefully casting a wider net of support.

About the beer’s name

Taken from a sonnet that American poet Emma Lazarus wrote in 1883 to raise money for the construction of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

THE NEW COLOSSUS
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
MOTHER OF EXILES. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
