Sunshine into Shadow – Counterbalance Brewing celebrates the fresh goodness and the bad darkness

As much as I adore the annual arrival of fresh hop beer season, and all that it represents, it brings with it an ominous reminder that darker days are on the way. Counterbalance Brewing also recognizes this dichotomy and celebrates the release of its fresh hop beer at the same time it releases Bad Wolf Dark Ale, a shadowy, robust, style-defying beer befitting the darker seasons on the horizon. One beer is the perfect counterpoint to the other. Better said, one beer is the perfect counterbalance to the other.

On Saturday, September 29th the brewery hosts Sunshine Into Shadow, a party to celebrate the release of these two vastly different beers.

Here’s the scoop straight from the brewery.

The Counterbalance 2018 Fresh Hop Ale is a bright, fragrant ale featuring fresh Willamette Valley Amarillo hops and flavors of lemon, orange, and spice. It’s an ideal accompaniment for a last gasp of summer and the perfect counterbalance to…

Bad Wolf Dark Ale. This category-defying beer was the very first beer we brewed commercially, and we’re excited to bring it back for fall 2018. Bad Wolf is an ale unto itself, featuring a silky mouthfeel, flavors of toffee, cocoa, and a balanced layer of piney hop bitterness. Call it what you want. We just call it a Dark Ale and we love it.
