Tacoma Brewing Presents Dark Sun Day on Dec. 12

On Saturday, December 12, 2015 Tacoma Brewing Company presents the first-ever Black Sun Day. In celebration of its third anniversary, Tacoma Brewing will release a limited number of bottles of Black Sun Russian Imperial Stout. The bottles were printed by hand and no two are alike. The stout was aged in JP Trodden bourbon barrels for 18 months. The bottles are $20 (22-ounce).

On tap at the event, they will offer four variations of Black Sun made with coffee, chili, licorice, and cocoa nib. Admission is free, however due to limited supply, Black Sun will only be available in 3-ounce pours (no growler fills).

Guests may purchase a limited-edition taster glass for $20, which comes with six tasting tickets. Additional tickets may be purchased for $1.00. Special guest beers will also be on tap for the event. The Rolling Crust will be there making pizza with their portable wood-fired oven.

The event runs from noon to 9:00 pm at the Tacoma Brewing taproom. A portion of sales from the event will be donated to The Foundation for Tacoma Students, a Tacoma community nonprofit.

Brewery description:  “Black Sun 2015 is a refined Russian Imperial Stout aged 18 months in JP Trodden bourbon barrels, and comes in a unique, handscreened collectible bottle. The huge size of this beer is belied by a light mouthfeel, low sweetness level, and very little alcohol burn. Flavors of cherry, chocolate, malt, molasses, oak, port wine on the palate and of course, tons of bourbon.”
