Tacoma’s 4th Annual Brew Five Three festival – the beer lineup and more

Dubbed the “downtown Tacoma block party,” the 4th Annual Brew Five Three festival returns on Saturday, August 13th. The event features beer from over 30 breweries and cideries, a great lineup of blues music, food trucks, and more, all on the streets of downtown Tacoma.

The event starts at 1:00 and runs until 8:00. This year the event organizers are limiting attendance to better enhance the experience for festivalgoers, so get your tickets soon. This 21+ event benefits The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts.

Tacoma, Wash.– Broadway Center for the Performing Arts hosts the fourth annual Brew Five Three: Tacoma’s Beer & Blues Festival on Saturday, August 13, 2016, from 1:00–8:00 p.m. as a 21+ downtown Tacoma block party on Broadway between 9th and 11th. As in years past, Brew Five Three will deliver a full day of live music, 30+ Washington breweries and cideries, and a variety of food trucks.

Anticipating a sold-out event, organizers at Broadway Center have limited the capacity for the fest in 2016 in order to provide the best experience for festival goers and vendors alike. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early to guarantee admittance to the popular block party.

The fourth annual festival promises a full schedule of local blues acts. The music program is as follows:

1:30 p.m. Paul Green Blues Band
A former “Best Blues Harmonica” winner and member of the Washington Blues Society Hall of Fame, Paul Green’s band plays a hard-riding blues, R&B and funk style.

3:00 p.m. Rod Cook & Toast

Rod Cook is a well-respected, in demand Seattle area guitarist known for his stylistic versatility and soulful, melodic playing. Rod has worked as a professional musician for over thirty five years.

5:00 p.m.  Barleywine Revue

Barleywine Revue writes and performs contemporary, relevant Bluegrass and Americana music while paying homage to traditional Bluegrass.

6:30 p.m. Stacy Jones Band
Stacy Jones is continually nominated for “Best of the Blues” awards in songwriting, performance, harmonica, guitar and winning vocalist of the year. She has performed at the Chicago Blues Festival, SXSW, juke joints in Mississippi, river boats in California, headlined festivals, and shared stages with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, Lee Oskar, and many other legends.

In addition to featuring local blues bands, the downtown Tacoma block party will again fill Broadway with over 30 Washington breweries and cideries. Festival food vendors include Burrito Boy, Gnosh, Great Northwest Popcorn, Lumpia World, Stacks Burgers, and Viet Nom Nom.

Brew Five Three is a 21+ event; valid photo ID required for entry; no exceptions. Failure to present valid photo identification (driver’s license or passport) will result in denial of entry without refund. Brew Five Three will take place rain or shine. Well-behaved dogs on leash are permitted.

Advance tickets to Brew Five Three are on sale now. Tickets are $25 through August 5, and are $30 the week of the festival. Full-price tickets include six tasting tokens and a souvenir pint glass. Members of the military may purchase a $25 ticket without expiry.
