Tickets on sale for Seattle’s largest, oldest beer festival

Tickets are on sale now for Fremont Oktoberfest and if you use the promo code WABEER when checking out you’ll get two extra beer tokens. Get tickets.

Fremont Oktoberfest is the largest beer festival in the city, spanning the course of three action-packed, beer-fueled days. Largest, that is, in terms of attendance and duration. It’s probably the city’s oldest beer festival too. I can’t think of another Seattle beer festival that dates back to 1997. In fact, I can’t think of too many things in Seattle that date back to 1997, period.

This year’s event runs Friday, September 21 thru Sunday, September 23. We’re happy to have Fremont Oktoberfest aboard as a sponsors again this year. Tickets are on sale now and if you use the promo code WABEER when checking out you’ll get two extra beer tokens.

Sure, the event’s name conjures visions of huge beer tents and tubas playing oompah music, but Fremont Oktoberfest is really just a big beer fest. Costumes are welcome and there are some Bavarian-themed shenanigans just for fun, but really it’s just a big beer fest.

Dogs welcome on Sunday.
Dogs welcome on Sunday. Dog costumes optional.

The event features 100 different beers and ciders from dozen of different producers, unlike the big event in Munich where each tent is dedicated to, and operated by, one brewery. Sure, Fremont Oktoberfest will offer the one-liter stein option, and you can drink from a traditional boot mug if you like, but mostly it’s about tasting a lot of different beers. Instead of filling up on German-brewed festbier, the selection generally includes beers brewed on the West Coast—fresh hop ales, hazy IPAs, and so on.

A few event highlights:

  • Last year, festival organizers added a 10,000 square foot indoor sports bar with massive big screens to keep you in tune with all the big games.
  • Sunday is for the dogs. That is, your pooch is welcome on Sunday. Make sure Skippy is all fluffed up and pretty because CityDog Magazine will be there conducting its Cover Dog Model Search.
  • This year they’re teaming up with Just Add Yoga, which will conduct a one-hour, all-levels yoga program on Sunday prior to the event’s opening, so you can stretch, flex and sweat before a full day of guilt-free beer drinking.
