Tiptoe Through the Hop Fields with Schooner Exact Brewing

Last September I was fortunate enough to spend some time at one of the Yakima Valley’s hop ranches witnessing the harvest. Read my story. It is a very impressive operation, one that most beer drinkers have yet to witness. For a beer lover, it is practically a spiritual experience. Schooner Exact Brewing is planning a field trip to the Yakima Valley to not only witness the harvest, but to participate in the harvest. You are invited to join them for a day in the hop fields.

Spend a full day with the Schooner Exact crew touring the facilities, witnessing the harvest, picking hops, brewing beer, and eating delicious food. Quite likely, you will not go thirsty either. This a hop lovers dream come true. The date is set for Saturday, September 7th. Complete details below.

For those who do not know (are there any of you left?): Each year the Yakima Valley produces about 25 percent of the nation’s hop crop–about 25 percent of the world’s hop crop. What happens in Yakima in September each year, when the hops are harvested, is really quite amazing. Getting to witness it up close like this is a rare opportunity that should not be missed.

  1. Typo in your third paragraph: Each year the Yakima Valley produces about 25 percent of the nation’s hop crop–about 25 percent of the world’s hop crop.

Isn’t it 75 percent of the nation’s crop and 25 percent of the world’s?

  2. Interesting observation on how a exact brewing can shape ones perspective. Great information. Congratulations again on a good job Kendall.
