Tom Douglas Presents Beer and Brats – This Friday

tombeerandbratThis is not a typical brew-n-brat kind of affair. This is about world class beers and world class brats, served up by a local culinary icon. In other words, great craft beer lovingly paired with bratwurst from some of Seattle’s finest sausage purveyors. You don’t have to tell me twice. Oh ya, we’ll be there! (Ticket info below.)
Most people around here already know this, but I will say it anyway. Tom Douglas is a local chef and restaurateur. He operates Dahlia Lounge, Etta’s, Lola, Serious Pie, and Palace Kitchen. Beyond that, he is nationally recognized as the big dog when it comes to Northwest cuisine. He is a James Beard Award winner. If you don’t know what that means, I can’t help you. Just trust me, they guy can cook.
Across the street from Palace Kitchen is the Palace Ballroom, an event space run by Tom Douglas Catering. This Friday the Palace Ballroom will be transformed into what they’re describing as an “Oktoberfest heaven.” Warren Peterson, one of Tom Douglas’ top sous chefs and newly appointed “beer czar” for Tom Douglas Restaurants, will be showcasing some of his favorite West Coast craft beers alongside bratwurst from Seattle’s top sausage producers.
This is also a chance to meet brewers from Pike Brewing, Big Al, Baron Brewing, Maritime Pacific, Elysian, Sierra Nevada, and Deschutes.
Bratwurst will be provided by Isernio’s Sausage, Cascioppo Brothers Meats, Bavarian Meats, Uli’s Famous Sausage and Da Pino.  There will also be handcrafted sausages by the aforementioned beer czar, Warren Peterson, as well as Palace Kitchen’s chef Brian Walcyzk and Dahlia Lounge’s Brock Johnson.
Tickets are $34 (tax included) and must be purchased in advance by calling (206) 448–2001.
