The “everything happens on the same day” phenomenon sometimes annoys me. This time, it seems that everything happening on the same day is a good thing. Especially if you live in West Seattle or you feel like making a westward pilgrimage across the bridge to visit us over here on the rock. This is a great night for a West Seattle pub crawl. It’s all about timing. Be here by 4:00 to maximize your fun and adventure.
Start on the north end of California Avenue (the Admiral Junction) at the Copper Coin, where they will host a Deschutes Brewing release party. There, Deschutes will introduce Armory XPA to the Washington market. It is an experimental Pale Ale offering “a rich, caramelly malt thread balanced by pleasant tropical, citrus notes.” They will also be pouring their Hop Henge IPA and Red Chair pale on nitro, along with the obligatory swag raffles. The fun gets started at 4:00.
Head south on California Avenue to the Beer Junction (blog sponsor), located in the heart of downtown West Seattle (the Alaska Junction). Meet one of the co-owners of Spokane’s No-Li Brewhouse and sample a selection of his brewery’s beers, Including the brand new Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout. Other beers include Born & Raised IPA, Crystal Bitter (2012 GABF Gold Medal Winner), Silent Treatment Pale Ale, and Jet Star Imperial IPA. The event kicks off at 5:00.
Continue your southward journey on California Avenue to the Morgan Junction, where the Beveridge Place Pub (blog sponsor) will host 7 Seas Brewing for a Brewers Night celebration. The boys from Gig Harbor are bringing a cask of Rude Parrot IPA. Also, Depth Finder IRA, Belgian Imperial Stout, and the uber-rare 7 Bloody Seas. In case you haven’t had it, the 7 Blood Seas is a “Bloody Mary themed” beer. They’ll tap the cask and get things rolling at 7:00.
We don’t have a trolley running from Junction to Junction, up and down California Avenue, like they did back in the olden days. Still, you’ll find plenty of public transportation options for getting to and from West Seattle, and for getting from one junction to the next. The Beer Junction and the Beveridge Place are both on the C Line, for instance. The number 128, 50 or 55 will get you from the C Line to/from the Copper Coin.
