Two Beers Brewing Takes You to New Heights with the Alta Series

Two Beers Brewing Company is about to introduce a very special series of beers. The Alta Series will feature handcrafted beers of great distinction, which is another way of saying that these will be big, bold beers brewed in small batches. Whether it be barrel-aged, spiced, or sour, each Alta Series beer clocks-in at more than 9.0 percent Alcohol by Volume (ABV). Four different Alta Series beers will be released throughout 2013 (February, May, August and November).

Not just strong, the Alta Series showcases the brewery’s creative prowess and features packaging befitting the special nature of each beer. The brewery will package the Alta Series beers in screen-printed, 22-ounce bottles with hand-dipped wax seals. The first beer in the series is Switchback Russian Imperial Stout. After spending six month in brandy barrels, this beer spent four more months aging on Theo organic cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and bing cherries.  Switchback weighs in at a whopping 12-percent ABV.

On Saturday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m., Two Beers Brewing celebrates the release of Switchback Russian Imperial Stout with a party at the company’s brewery and tasting room in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood. The event is a fundraiser for the Washington Trail Association. In addition to purchasing bottles of this limited-release beer, party-goers can enter a raffle to win 3-liter and 6-liter bottles of Switchback Russian Imperial Stout.

We will have more information about the party as the date nears. In the meantime, mark your calendar. See the press release below for more details.

“This new limited edition series gives us a chance to really showcase a different side of Two Beers Brewing,” stated Joel VandenBrink, founder and head brewer at Two Beers Brewing Co. “The Alta Series is our tribute to lofty heights and to the crazy pursuit of the upper limits in life. These small batch beers truly push the envelope and are unlike anything we’ve ever created.”

The first beer released as part of Two Beers Brewing’s new Alta Series will be the Switchback Russian Imperial Stout. A style born out of the cold north and the Russian courts desire for rich, toasty brews, The Alta Series’ Russian Imperial Stout has been barrel aged in brandy barrels for six months, followed by four months of aging on Theo organic cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and bing cherries.  A deep, multilayered beer, Switchback features a 12 percent ABV, 50 IBUs and SRM of 77. Its thick, smooth body carries immense, complex flavors of coffee, plums, chocolate, cherries, vanilla and highland peat under a deep milk-‐chocolate creamy head.
