Upcoming big beer events at Watershed Pub and Kitchen

The Watershed Pub and Kitchen opened near Northgate Mall almost a year ago. With the big day approaching, the pub planned some special events, including an Imperial Stout Fest, a Barleywine Fest, and an anniversary celebration.

Ben Curran, owner/operator at Watershed, says, “While we have been hosting some cool events—beer releases, live music, beer and cider pairing dinners and our Convergence Series of special brewery nights—it’s finally time to crank it up a few notches for our craft beer loving community.”

1st Annual Black and Brew Imperial Stout Fest – Thursday 2/26:
The Watershed taps into some of the biggest, boldest imperial stouts around, both on tap and in bottles. “Our chefs will be offering up some appropriately rich, roasty, sweet, savory and delicious specials to aid you on your voyage into the darkness,” says Curran. “Beginning first thing Thursday and going ’til they’re gone. The empire strikes black!”

Sticking with our “empire strikes black” theme for this year, these food specials will be making appearances over the course of the weekend:

• Cantina Cheese Plate // mt. townsend campfire and old amsterdam with accompaniments
• Darth Maul-icious Pizza // red sauce, mozzarella, serrano ham, mama lil’s peppers, roasted red peppers, black olives and goat cheese
• Imperial Storm Trooper Stew // traditional beef stew with oatmeal stout stock
• Seared Wookie // seared marinated flank steak with caramelized onions and balsamic reduction drizzle, point reyes bleu cheese and roasted garlic potato mash
• Bantha Bones // large beef ribs slathered in bourbon stout bbq sauce
• Sith Lord’s Mole // chicken mole with sopa de vader (black bean soup)

We’ll also be selling 25 hand-numbered collectors edition 1st Annual Black & Brew posters during the fest.

9th Annual Strongman Barleywine Festival – Saturday 3/7: “A true labor of love, Strongman is the brainchild of our good friend and local beer cognoscente Joel Klemenhagen,” says Curran. “From its humble beginnings as a small gathering of friends it grew to multi-course dinner/house party tastings, then to two fantastic years at Epic Ales’ Gastropod and now we are honored to be hosting this year’s event, with a new twist – an open invitation to beer and food aficionados.”

“Aside from the private tasting, several specially curated barleywines will be available on tap along with some Chef’s specials designed to pair with these rare and robust brews.”
