WA Loses a Brewery: Battenkill is Calling it Quits

This isn’t something I report very often: a Washington brewery is going out of business. The announcement showed up on the Battenkill Brewing’s Facebook page yesterday. Sad to report.

It is with a bit of sadness that I annouce today is the last official day of business for Battenkill Brewing Company of Poulsbo. I told myself I’d give it a year and times up. It’s been a great experience and a lot of work as a part-time job. I sincerely do appreciate everyone who’s had a chance to drink some Battenkill Brews and comment on what we’ve put out there. I’m going back to being a regular Home Brewer, which I’ve always enjoyed. That said ….the “brewery” (complete 1.5 BBL system, materials, and equipment) are going up for sale. I’ll be posting on craigslist and … i’ll also post pictures of all the stuff here on the facebook pages soon. Again …. thanks and please contiunue to support your local craft brewer. They’re a hard working bunch!

  1. Sorry to hear this. We are planning a brewery tour on the peninsula in a couple weeks, and had planned to visit Battenkill. Timing is everything I guess.

  2. Actually Battenkill wasn’t open for public visiting anyway. This is one reason why I think they didn’t make it. Having a tasting room helps bring in some good extra money. It’s too hard to make it by just selling kegs to other bars and restaurants.

Sorry to see them go though. I really enjoyed the Amber and IPA.

  3. I’m saddened to hear this, great effort my friend. (Oh how I’d love to have this “homebrewer” living in my neighborhood ;>)
