Washington Beer Open House – Saturday, February 25

washington beer open house

More than 100 breweries have signed up to participate in Washington Beer Open House. What’s that, you may ask? Well, on Saturday, February 25th from noon ’til 5:00, breweries across the state open their doors and invite you in to tour the brewery, sample some beers, enjoy special releases, and more. Each brewery has its own thing going on. Participating breweries are listed below, keep an eye on the official website for updates.

Some of the participating breweries are not regularly open to the public. Some of the breweries are always open to the public but are offering something special for Open House. Barrel tastings, rare beer releases, food and beer pairings, and so on. Like I said, each brewery has its own plan. You’ll need to check with each brewery to know exactly what’s happening.

Are you a Washington Beer Lover? Are beer hunting and brewery hopping part of your lifestyle? Well then, you should be a member of WABL, the official fan club of Washington Beer. During Washington Beer Open House, WABL members are invited to Counterbalance Brewing in Seattle to claim their passport prizes. You can sign up for WABL there, too, if you aren’t already a member or you can sign up online.

Basically, here’s the way WABL works. You sign up to be a member for $30 a year and they give you a WABL T-shirt and passport. You get a new T-shirt each year when you renew your membership. When you visit a Washington brewery, get your passport stamped. Then you turn in your passport and get prizes, get a new passport and do it again. This is a year-round thing, not just an Open House thing. At events throughout the year you can turn in your passport and pick up your prizes.

Currently, the prize package looks like this: After 20 brewery visits you can redeem your passport for your a WABL insulated pint glass and bottle opener set. Fifty brewery visits will earn you a free membership for the following year.

WABL is operated by the Washington Beer Commission. They describe it like this: “WABL is the official Washington Beer Fan Club. WABL’s mission is to build a community of local craft beer enthusiasts who are pursuing an active, responsible, and social lifestyle built around Washington beer. Join today to show your support of and pride in the craft of Washington beer. And meet other beer lovers around the state. This annual membership is perfect for festival-going, brewery-visiting people who love great beer!”

  1. I will bring that to the attention of the Washington Beer Commission. I’m sure it was an oversight, not a slight.
