Washington Brewshed Alliance – Local Breweries United to Protect Our Watersheds

Nobody knows better than a brewer the value of good water. Around here, we seemingly enjoy an abundance of the wet stuff, but our local brewers should not take it for granted. None of us should. Washington Wild is an organization that works to permanently protect our water sources, insuring that we will always have good, clean water for drinking and for brewing.  When a watershed provides water to local breweries, it is also a brewshed.

Washington Wild is reaching out to local breweries, asking them to become part of the Washington Brewshed Alliance and encouraging them to help emphasize the important link between clean water and good beer. Increasingly, sustainability and conservation are important issues in the world of craft beer. Washington Brewshed Alliance provides local breweries with an easy way to get involved in protecting our water sources. Below is more information, provided by Washington Wild, including information about upcoming Washington Brewshed Happy Hour events.

Simply put, clean water makes tasty beer. And Washington Wild wants to highlight this connection with craft brewers and their biggest fans through the Washington Brewshed Alliance. A Brewshed is the link between clean healthy watersheds and superior local beers, because clean water makes better beer. Watersheds are Brewsheds!

Breweries that join the Washington Brewshed Alliance pledge to know the source of the water that wets their beer, as well as support actions that protect Washington’s rivers and watersheds. Emphasizing the direct link between clean water and better beer is a natural way to engage Washington’s faithful craft beer drinkers and connect them with the wild waters where their favorite beers originate.

Washington Wild works to permanently protect Washington’s wild river systems and the lands they flow through, many of which supply drinking water to Washington communities and provide the water to create our delicious local beers. Through Wilderness and Wild & Scenic River designations, Washington Wild’s goal is to permanently protect and restore wild lands and waters in Washington State.

The Brewshed movement is a great reason for conservation-minded craft beer-lovers to gather in honor of healthy watersheds and Washington-made microbrews, all while supporting local breweries.
