West Seattle Brewing’s taproom opens this Thursday

Some time ago, West Seattle Brewing started selling beer on a very limited basis. Unless you hang out at A Terrible Beauty, the Irish pubs in West Seattle and Renton, you probably have not consumed the beer. They did make a public appearance in October at BREW Seattle, the beer festival sponsored by Seattle Magazine. That’s about it. The other day I drove by West Seattle Brewing and noticed that things were coming together quickly at the space on Fauntleroy Way. They recently hosted a soft opening event and now the West Seattle Herald reports that the brewery plans to open its tasting room to the public this Thursday, December 19.  Read the West Seattle Herald story here (includes pictures).

To start, the taproom will be open Thursday through Saturday, 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm. They will start out with eight beers on tap, eventually expanding the selection to 16. No food, just beer, but there are restaurants nearby. The wildly popular and critically acclaimed Buddha Ruksa Thai Cuisine is across the parking lot. Jones Barbeque is next door (cash only, last I knew).

Instead of a big walk-in cooler with kegs stored in darkness, away from the peering eyes of the public, West Seattle Brewing’s cooler has glass doors. The space is a repurposed corner market so the retail, reach-in coolers are being put to good use. A very cool feature, they mounted the beer faucets directly to the glass.
