Wingman Brewers invites you to Porterpalooza 2017

Tacoma’s Wingman Brewers invites you to join them on Saturday, January 14th for Porterpalooza 2017. The annual event celebrates one of the oldest styles of ale in existence—a style of beer that earned popularity among dock workers and cargo porters in 18th century England. Porterpalooza also serves as the release of Wingman’s modern twist on the age-old style of ale: Peanut Butter Cup Porter. Porterpalooza will also feature at least eleven other porters on tap.

So, what’s the deal with Wingman Brewers and porter? Perhaps it dates back to 2011, when Wingman Brewers came to life and the Red Hot in Tacoma hosted an event to introduce the brewery to the word. The standout beer that night was P-51 Porter. Before long P-51 Porter was the brewery’s flagship beer, gaining wider popularity once the brewery started canning it.

Fast-forward to 2016 and Wingman Brewers’ porter still stands out in the crowd. Sip Northwest magazine’s panel of esteemed beer experts selected Wingman’s Peanut Butter Cup Porter as the top porter in the 2016 Best of the Northwest tasting. Sure, the brewery does lots of other stuff, but in a world replete with IPAs, Wingman’s proclivity for Porter provides a welcomed diversion.

And thus, Wingman Brewers presents the annual Porterpaloza, a celebration of that beloved beer style. There’s no entry fee for Porterpalooza. South Beach Cuisine and Espresso food truck will dish out the food.
