Winter beer series kicks off tonight at Latona Pub

The winter beer series at Latona Pub is marked by the monthly release of special beers brewed for the pub by local brewers, with each beer released in conjunction with an event at the pub. The Latona Pub winter beer series kicks off tonight (Monday, December 8) when 7 Seas Brewing releases Gertie the Winter Ale, an homage to Galloping Gertie, the famous bouncing bridge that once connected Tacoma to the Kitsap Peninsula.

In addition to the typical brewers night hoopla, which starts at 8:00, the pub hosts a beer pairing dinner (6:30) in the Latona loft. Seating for the dinner is limited, so you should call the pub to see if there are any spots available. (206) 525-2238.

First up, the release of Gertie the Winter Ale from 7 Seas Brewing. At 7.1% and chock full of Columbus, Magnum, and Simcoe hops it’s a super fresh, hoppy, and sturdy winter warmer.

For the release dinner, Chef Chris is putting together a fantastic dinner to pair with Gertie and three other great 7 Seas ales

Tickets for dinner are $35 for four schooners, 3 courses, tip and tax included. Tickets are available at the bar at the Latona or  by calling the pub. Along with the beer and food, the brewers and owner join you at the table and it is  a great chance to connect with the people that make the beer.

As the winter moves on, Latona Pub will host more events like this. Keep an eye on the Latona Facebook page too stay informed. Other breweries involved in the winter beer series include Elysian Brewing, Rogue Ales, and Triplehorn Brewing.
